Car Alarms Guide
Car Alarms Offer Safety And Security
Police records show that the crimes
most often committed are automobile-related. This high rate of
automobile crime seems to span the whole world and could
involve simply stealing stuff that’s left inside a car to grand
theft auto and in extreme cases – car jacking. It makes sense
then to install a good car alarm. Car alarms
may not always protect your car from determined burglars, but
it would certainly lower the odds of your car being burgled.
Not every car burglar would take a risk with a car that has an
alarm system installed when there are so many unprotected cars
around.
There are so many different kinds of car alarms
available that it makes shopping for one no easy task.
Each car alarm offers a different protection level. A
high-end, expensive car alarm could be installed with a
device that tracks the stolen car and could locate it even
if hidden away. The lower-end cheaper car alarms work by
simply locking the steering wheels. Whether you go in for
a basic or a highly sophisticated alarm depends on your
budget and circumstances, but an alarm is an advisable
option for all cars. It’s simple really - any car alarm,
even the most basic one, stands in the way between the
burglar and a quick steal-and-run. However simple
the alarm may be. It still takes time to unarm or break
it. The thief is sure to move on to an easier target that
has no protection at all.
Though there are literally hundreds of different kinds of
alarms available, most of the alarm systems would be of two
major types - Passive alarms and Active alarms. Passive alarms
turn on automatically when the doors are shut and the ignition
is turned off. The alarm goes off if the car is forcefully
opened without the key or if there is unusual force while using
the ignition. An active alarm has to be turned on manually by
the user. The disadvantage of an active alarm is that the user
may forget to put it on.
The passive as well as the active alarm systems are available
with a host of features all of which are basically designed
with the idea that if enough noise were made, any would-be
thief would abort the burglary attempt. The alarms include a
variety of features including motion detector, door sensors as
well as air horns.
Some of these anti-theft devices and alarms have the innovative
tracking mechanism. These devices are quite expensive, but
considering you can track the location of the car and get it
back in record time, it is well worth the money spent.
The main idea of installing an alarm system in the car is to
deter the burglar. Even a simple steering lock, which is the
most basic of all car protection devices, is
deterrent enough. It would be best to install the most
sophisticated car alarm system that your budget will allow. The
more complex the alarm system the safer your car will be. In
some places, purchasing a car alarm is given equal importance
as the car itself.
