Best Car Security Systems
Which is the Best Car Security Systems for You
and Your Car?
Many people are hesitant to pay extra for
securing their car especially since they’ve just invested a
huge sum of money on the car itself.
They may mistakenly think the odds of their car being robbed
are very low. It’s not worth the risk though; you would save a
little money now, but you may have to pay an expensive price
later on.
A car alarm however simple, will act as a deterrent to a
burglar who would prefer to pick on a target that is easier.
You can get car alarms that offer different levels of security
ranging from the simple, basic steering wheel locks to highly
sophisticated immobilizers and alarms that are high-tech. You
have a wide choice of car security systems to
choose from.
Car security systems come in three main types- Audible security
systems, inaudible systems (private alert systems) and ignition
system immobilizers.
Audible security systems work by emitting a sound that alerts
the people around of unauthorized entry into the vehicle. These
can be a tad annoying especially when they disturb your peace
and quiet with all that beeping and loud screaming. But
improvements have been made and the sensitivity of newer
audible security systems can be set, which reduces the chances
that it would go off without reason. Often the flashing
headlights or a double beep alert the driver to the fact that
the alarm has been set. Most of the car security systems that
are pre-installed have an additional panic button that sets the
alarm off when a button that is provided on the key fob is
pressed. The major drawback of these systems is that they add
to the noise pollution.
Inaudible systems work as private alarm systems. Instead of
emitting deafening sounds to alert anyone of a break-in they
just page the car owner when there is any unauthorized entry.
The drawback to this system is that if the owner is too far
from the car, he can do nothing about it. And again the
inaudible car alarm system only acts to inform the owner that
there has been a break-in or there is one in progress, it may
not actually stop the burglary from happening. Even if
the owner manages to get to the location in time and witness
the burglary in progress there is precious little he can do
about it without endangering his life.
Ignition system immobilizers incorporate the latest technology
for prevention of car theft, and there is a possibility that it
may be mandatory for all future vehicles to be manufactured
with this system installed. They work on the principle
that only an authorized person can start the
car.
The good thing is you are not restricted to choosing just one
of these alarm systems for your car. Your car would get the
best protection if it were installed with a combination of
alarm systems, the most popular one of which is the
immobilizer- audible security system combination. To make it
just that much more difficult for the car thief you could also
add a steering wheel lock.
